General Rules and Information General Conduct
Your Pro-Scot Instructor is bound by a professional code of conduct, which ensures that all Pro-Scot instructors will be polite, tidy and will not smoke in the car while giving tuition. They behave in a correct, professional and ethical manner at all times. Pro-Scot Driving Tuition aims to provide you with the highest quality tuition at competitive prices in accordance with the Driving Standards Agency requirements and professional Code of Conduct.
Pro-Scot Instructors are self-employed and are licensed to use Pro-Scot’s successful training package

Qualifications

 The Driving Standards Agency (DSA), part of the Department for the Environment, Transport and Regions, is the agency that examines, licences and controls the standards of all driving instructors in the UK. Your Pro-Scot Driving Instructor is registered with the DSA and is approved by them to display the Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) badge on his/her car in addition they are specially trained in the correct way to deliver the Pro-Scot Training Package to ensure that you learn more in each lesson.

Vehicle

Your Pro-Scot Driving Instructor gives your tuition in his/her car, which is properly insured for this purpose and for use in driving tests. The car is fitted with dual controls, is correctly maintained, and clean and tidy at all times.

Pro-Scot Training Package

Pro-Scot strongly believes that in order to learn effectively all lessons must be structured to suit individual needs. It is for this reason that Pro-Scot offer a package of training to minimise costs whilst ensuring our students receive the highest quality tuition. Students can be loaned a Home Study Pack for a hire fee. This pack must be returned within 1 month, or an additional hire charge may become payable. Computer training on the latest version of the DSA Theory Test CD ROM is free. Theory preparation for the new Hazard Perception Test is also available.

Your Legal Requirements

At the start of your first lesson your instructor will ask you to sign a form stating that you have read and understood the ‘Terms of Business, General Rules and Information.’ He will also check your Provisional Licence and carry out an eyesight check (ensuring you can read a car registration plate at a minimum of 20.5 metres old style number plate or 20m for the new style. Your attention is also drawn to your responsibilities under the Road Traffic Act concerning the use of alcohol and drugs. Please ensure you present yourself in a fit and proper state!

Progress Reports
Pro-Scot’s unique training package linked with your home study pack ensures you will maximise your learning potential. All lessons systematically work through all training phases and your progress is recorded. Feedback at each stage will ensure that you are fully aware of your strengths and weaknesses.

Feedback

 All students are issued with a course critique sheet, this enables you to give us feedback covering all areas of your training from booking in to instructor characteristics, course content etc. This ensures that we are able to continually upgrade our standards.

Bookings

Initial enquiries and bookings are made through Head Office on 01592 650100 (Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5.30pm and Saturday 10:00am - 2:00pm). An answering machine service is also available outwith these hours. Your instructor will call to make a booking within 12 hours of your initial enquiry to arrange a suitable time for your first lesson. Thereafter bookings will be made directly with your instructor at the end of each lesson. It is in your best interest to book lessons 3 or 4 weeks in advance to avoid the disappointment of the times most convenient to you being booked by other pupils.

Lesson Start Times
Your Pro-Scot Driving Instructor will make every effort to meet you at the start of the time booked for your lesson. However, this is dependant upon traffic conditions so you are asked to be prepared to start 10 minutes earlier or later than the time booked. Irrespective of the time of arrival of your Pro-Scot Driving Instructor, the full lesson time will be given.

Cancellations

 Please give the Head Office and/or your instructor as much notice as possible should you have to cancel or change a lesson. As your Pro-Scot instructor is self-employed, should she/he be unable to re-book a lesson with another pupil, she/he personally loses income. You may therefore be charged for a cancelled lesson if less than 48 hours notice is given. Exceptional circumstances will be considered at the instructor’s discretion.

Theory and Drivin
g Tests (Car)
 Both theory and practical tests are booked by yourself, and in some cases your instructor, who will advise you of telephone numbers and a suitable time and date. Driving test bookings take preference over lessons; if your lesson time needs to be changed your instructor will let you know as soon as possible. Your Pro-Scot instructor will reserve a warm-up lesson, duration variable, and 1 hour for your test. Tests and bookings are carried out by the DSA, thus your Pro-Scot Instructor cannot be held responsible for any cancellations or postponements. He/she will help you to reclaim any out of pocket expenses you have lost as a result of cancellations

Payments
Individual lesson payments should be made direct to your Pro-Scot Instructor by cash or cheque (with a cheque card). Cheques should be made out to the Instructor. Advance payments for courses can be made to your Instructor (please ensure you obtain and retain your receipt for your own records.) Payments can also be taken on behalf of an instructor direct to the Pro - Scot office. Please note that your instructor is self employed and operates under a Pro - Scot franchise, any problems regarding payments should be made directly to your instructor and not the Pro - Scot office.
 
Complaints
 This is a contract between yourself and your driving instructor, should you have any complaints or are not happy in any way with your training, or any other part of our service, these matters should be taken up direct with your instructor. Should he/she be unable to rectify matters to you satisfaction please forward your complaint to the Director of Pro-Scot at Head Office. If you are still unsatisfied with the outcome, your complaint should be made in writing direct to the Driving Standards Agency. The address will be available from your driving instructor.
