The training for Part 2 and Part 3 is incredibly difficult and stressful. For anyone reading this with an idea this is an "easier" career choice because "they're a good driver" then please think again. I am a very good driver and really struggled with large parts of the training. John's knowledge of not just driving instruction but the entire automotive industry and his craft from a coaching and psychological perspective is incredible - it's very easy to feel intimated by it and feeling that is the standard to reach - but you must find a way past that and work towards gaining that kind of levels of expertise. The training doesn't just include the hours when you're in the car doing role plays and practising etc. I lost entire weekends doing homework, watching YouTube videos, and reading through notes I'd taken. Without this, I would not have made it past Week 3.

There were absolutely no shortcuts taken through training. I've now done around 7 months of live Instructor work on the road and there hasn't been one incident or situation that's happened that John hadn't prepared me for.

I realise now that the training was tough because it needed to be... (1) to prepare me for my final Part 3 exam and (2) for life on the road teaching. It's easy to forget that students learning to drive are exactly that - students - and they make silly, unpredictable errors which can be dangerous or even deadly. I know John's training has prepared me for this as best as it could.

I trained to be a driving instructor with John Macdonald from ProScot. What an absolute gem of a guy. The knowledge he has on driving is first class. The training was by no means easy. The occasional tear! But much more laughter. I passed my part 3 first time, with great feedback from my examiner. I achieved this due the high standard of training John gives. worked for ProScot for a further 2 years after this. Becoming a very confident instructor, with the support I got from John and the ProScot team. This gave me all the confidence to try setting up on my own. I now have a very successful wee business. I could not have done this without the help from John and the girls at ProScot. I would definitely recommend ProScot for driving instructor training if you're deciding to become a driving instructor.

I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better driving instructor than Fred Beck. Fred, you are more than just an instructor you are patient, kind, and genuinely cared about helping me build confidence, not just pass my test. I always looked forward to our lessons together, because every lesson with you was calm, encouraging, and full of little tips that made such a difference. You believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. I’m grateful for all your support and help, I couldn’t have done this without you Sir. Will definitely miss having you around, I promise to always be a safe and good driver.
