REQUIREMENTS

Our Direct Access (DAS) Motorcycle Course is only available to riders aged 24 years and over, or to those who have held a full A2 licence for more than two years. The final stages of this course are conducted on our larger full-power Suzuki SV 650cc (72Bhp) motorcycles.

7 HOUR SUPER SHORT COURSE (SSC)

Aimed at very experienced riders who completed our Fast Track CBT in less than 5 hours to a high overall standard. Course attendees will already have experience riding a larger, heavier motorcycle (typically 600cc or larger), hold a full driving licence, and have completed their CBT with ProScot.

11 HOUR
SHORT COURSE (SC)

Aimed at experienced riders with a full car licence who completed our Fast Track CBT in less than 6 hours to a good overall standard. Attendees will have previous experience riding bikes up to at least 125cc, hold a full driving licence, and have completed their CBT with ProScot.

19 HOUR
FULL COURSE (FC)

Aimed at novice riders, provisional car licence holders, rusty riders (anyone who has not ridden a motorcycle for a few years), or students who haven’t completed their CBT with ProScot (this is due to the high standards of our training).

TRAINING OPTIONS

We offer courses of varying lengths to suit your level of experience and confidence:

MODULE 1

An off-road test conducted by the Driving Standards Agency (DVSA) on a Multi Purpose Test Centre (MPTC). This test lasts approximately 12 minutes and tests your handling skills and both slow speed and high speed machine control. Our Direct Access Course will prepare you fully for Module 1. It includes practices at the MPTC before sitting your Module 1 test.

MODULE 2

A 35-minute on-road test conducted by the DVSA that assesses your ability to ride in traffic. Our Direct Access Course offers on-road training and mock tests to thoroughly prepare you for the Module 2 test.

MODULES

The Direct Access Motorcycle Course consists of two modules:

Passing your Module 1 and Module 2 tests on a motorcycle with a minimum of 595cc and a minimum power output of 67bhp will give you a full category A licence, allowing you to ride any motorcycle without any restriction on power.

LESSONS

Training for both Module 1 and Module 2 is flexible, with lessons available 7 days a week.

CLOTHING

The Driving & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVSA) states you must wear appropriate clothing for the test:

  • a motorcycle helmet that meets British safety standards (this doesn't apply if you're Sikh and wearing a turban)

  • motorcycle boots or other sturdy footwear that provides support and ankle protection

  • textile or leather motorcycle trousers, or heavy denim trousers

  • a textile or leather motorcycle jacket, or a heavy denim jacket with several layers underneath

  • motorcycle gloves

These clothing requirements also apply to all training with ProScot, from the Introduction to CBT course to both Part II modules.

TRAINING MOTORBIKES

Our Direct Access Motorcycle Courses use the latest Suzuki SV650 (supplied by Cupar Motorcycles), fitted with a complete crash protection system for your safety. This motorcycle offers a combination of fantastic handling, excellent brakes, and a 72bhp power output - all in a lightweight, novice-friendly package.

In fact, these bikes are so much fun that several of our students have bought one after passing their test.
